Lead a firm-wide AI governance program for a major international law firm’s New York office. This senior role will develop and operationalize policies, controls and approval pathways to enable responsible, ethical, secure and compliant use of AI across the organization.

The Director will partner across legal, risk, information security, information governance, technology and business teams to manage AI risks across the full lifecycle — from ideation and vendor selection through deployment, monitoring and ongoing controls testing. The role is a key advisor to senior leadership and will drive training, change management and regulatory alignment.

  • JD and active qualification as a lawyer; 6–10 years' practicing experience (experience at an international law firm preferred)
  • 2–5 years' relevant experience in AI risk, governance, compliance or related programs
  • Proven track record designing and implementing governance frameworks, policies, risk tiering and approval pathways for technology or AI
  • Experience with data protection, cybersecurity and third‑party/vendor risk management
  • Strong project management and cross‑functional leadership skills; excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into operational controls and training
