Common questions from candidates
Will my employer or partners find out I am exploring a move?
No. A conversation with us is exploratory and confidential — nothing leaves the room without your explicit, role-by-role permission. We do not circulate your CV, name you to a firm, or list your profile anywhere. Our candidate and client systems are reachable only over our private VPN with no inbound path from the open internet, so your details are never sitting on a public-facing portal that could leak.
Do candidates pay any fee to work with Sartori & Partners?
No, never. Our fee is paid by the hiring law firm or company on a successful placement, in the standard contingent or retained model used across executive legal search. There is no cost to you as a candidate — not for an exploratory conversation, market intelligence, interview preparation, offer-stage negotiation or the placement itself.
I'm not actively looking. Is it still worth a conversation?
Yes — most of the senior lawyers we place were not on any job board when we first spoke. A discreet, no-obligation conversation lets us understand what would have to be true for you to move, so that when the right mandate appears we can reach you first instead of you hearing about it third-hand. If the timing is wrong, we simply stay in touch and tell you so plainly.
What information do you need from me to start?
A current CV and a short, candid conversation about what you want from your next role — practice, market, compensation, culture and any constraints, including non-competes or notice periods. Will you ever tell me to stay where I am?
Yes, and we do. If the move on the table is lateral pay for a worse platform, or your current firm is the better place to build your practice, we will say so. We are paid only when a placement is right — so a candid "don't move" protects your career and our reputation, which is the only currency that matters in a referral-driven market.
Do you only recruit in the United States?
No. We are USA-focused but internationally connected, with mandates across the US, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and a dedicated path for international lawyers relocating to the US. Cross-border moves are a core part of what we do.
