Apply in confidence →Join a large, multi-office UK IP practice focused on advising clients across the full patent lifecycle, from strategy and drafting to prosecution, oppositions and enforcement. The team handles both contentious and non-contentious patent work, including cases before UK, EU and UPC fora, and supports a broad range of clients from high-growth tech businesses to established corporates.
This role offers strong exposure to high‑tech and engineering subject‑matter, a mix of drafting/prosecution and opposition work, and collaboration with litigation and commercial teams. The team is growing and seeks candidates who can contribute technically and commercially while developing their own practice.
- Qualified UK and/or European Patent Attorney with c.1–3 years PQE
- Degree in a relevant technical discipline (engineering, physics or similar)
- Experience in tech / high‑tech sectors and comfortable with mechanical/electromechanical or related technologies
- Proven drafting and prosecution skills across major jurisdictions; experience managing patent portfolios
- Experience with EPO oppositions and appeals; UPC representation or interest preferred
- Comfortable assisting on or supporting patent litigation, freedom‑to‑operate work and contentious matters
- Strong client relationship and business‑development skills; experience acting for direct clients/start‑ups desirable
- Willingness to be based in either London or Cambridge with occasional travel between offices; flexible working available
