Apply in confidence →Mid-level associate role in a national corporate environmental practice supporting corporate, finance and real estate transactions. The position will sit in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office with opportunities to collaborate across teams in New York, Boston and Philadelphia.
Day-to-day work includes performing environmental due diligence, advising on risk allocation and disclosure, supporting transactional closings and financings, and coordinating with regulatory agencies on remediation and redevelopment matters. The role involves drafting memos and transactional documents, participating in client calls, and working in cross-disciplinary teams.
The team advises on environmental considerations in M&A, private equity, securities and financing transactions, and supports environmental reporting and SEC disclosure obligations. Hybrid working arrangements with regular in-office presence are expected.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admitted to practice where based.
- Approximately 3 years of relevant environmental law experience (law firm and/or government agency experience preferred).
- Experience with environmental due diligence, risk allocation, and transactional counseling (M&A, financings, real estate transactions).
- Familiarity with federal and state environmental statutes and regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, TSCA) and practical experience with remediation, brownfield redevelopment, and agency coordination; PFAS-related experience a plus.
- Strong legal research, drafting, communication, and project-management skills; ability to translate technical issues into commercial advice and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
