Apply in confidence →National law firm is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join the Office of General Counsel. This role will report to the Deputy General Counsel and partner with risk, conflicts, and business teams to manage firm-wide legal risk, professional responsibility, and client intake matters.
Key responsibilities include drafting and administering risk management policies and training, advising on conflicts and engagement terms, supporting claims prevention and responses to subpoenas and audits, and handling client due diligence and RFP inquiries. The role will also cover evolving issues such as ethical considerations around AI and other emerging technologies.
The position is open to candidates based in the firm’s U.S. offices with consideration for fully remote U.S. locations; some travel and flexible hours (to cover time zones) are required.
- Juris Doctorate and active admission to a U.S. bar in good standing.
- Minimum of five years of legal experience, including at least three years in a law firm environment; prior experience in a law firm GC or professional responsibility role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rules of professional conduct, ethics opinions, conflicts processes, and risk management best practices.
- Excellent counseling, written and oral communication, analytical and organizational skills; high integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively across teams, and travel as needed.
