Apply in confidence →We are seeking an IP associate for the Seattle office to draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications across electrical, mechanical and software domains. The role emphasizes software-implemented inventions and computer-related innovations supporting both large corporate clients and emerging growth companies.
The position involves direct collaboration with inventors, engineers, product teams and in-house counsel to translate technical inventions into strategic patent portfolios, provide guidance on patentability and portfolio strategy, and participate in invention-harvesting and portfolio review sessions. There may be exposure to PTAB and ex parte reexamination matters.
- 3–4 years patent-prosecution experience in a law firm environment.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, with demonstrated aptitude for software-based technologies.
- USPTO registration preferred; candidates without registration must be willing to prepare for and pass the patent bar within the firm-required timeframe.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work directly with technical teams and client representatives.
