The role involves advising clients at interviews, attending meetings with oversight bodies, drafting witness statements and briefing counsel.
Day-to-day responsibilities include managing a personal caseload with financial accountability, meeting productivity and fee-income targets, and working to client service KPIs and protocols. The role requires occasional out-of-hours work and travel to attend police stations and deaths following police contact.
- Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive with police station accreditation and demonstrable criminal litigation experience
- Experience representing police officers in disciplinary and misconduct investigations and handling inquests
- Willingness to work out of hours and travel; full driving licence preferred
- Strong client-care and communication skills, with sensitivity when dealing with vulnerable clients
- Financially literate with experience of billing, fee targets and basic file financial management
- Team player with a collegiate approach; comfortable using Word and case-management systems
