Apply in confidence →Prominent Chicago office seeks a junior associate to join a busy Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice. You will work on complex, fast-moving Chapter 11 and insolvency matters for a broad range of stakeholders, including debtors, committees, lenders and asset purchasers.
Day-to-day work includes drafting pleadings and motions, handling contested matters and insolvency litigation, negotiating restructuring and financing documents, and advising clients through all phases of bankruptcy cases. Collaborative work with senior lawyers and responsibility for substantive drafting and courtroom advocacy are integral to the role.
The position is for candidates with 2–3 years of bankruptcy experience. The expected starting base salary range is $235,000–$260,000 (final offer consistent with experience and applicable law).
- Juris Doctor (JD) and 2–3 years of bankruptcy/restructuring experience at a law firm
- Experience drafting pleadings and arguing substantive motions in federal and/or state courts
- Case management experience; ability to handle multiple fast-moving matters
- Strong written and oral communication skills; attention to detail and ability to work independently and on teams
- Strong academic record; commitment to pro bono work
- Membership in the Illinois bar required; a federal bankruptcy clerkship is a plus
