Apply in confidence →Mid- to senior-level associate role within a major law firm's construction practice in New York. The position focuses on counseling owners and developers through all phases of commercial and residential construction projects.
Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating design, engineering, consultant and construction contracts, right-of-entry and access agreements, and closeout documents; advising on construction claims; and resolving construction-related disputes outside of arbitration and litigation. Transactional real estate experience (development, acquisitions/dispositions, leasing, financing) is a plus.
The team values strong drafting and communication skills, client-facing ability, mentorship of junior lawyers, and participation in client education and business development initiatives.
- Minimum 5 years of law firm construction experience representing owners and developers.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating construction-related agreements and advising on construction claims and dispute avoidance.
- Strong working knowledge of construction case law and the New York Lien Law.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to, and good standing with, the New York State bar.
- Outstanding drafting, oral communication skills, and academic credentials; please be prepared to provide a law school transcript, deal sheet, and an original writing sample.
