Apply in confidence →Opportunity for an experienced commercial technology and data privacy lawyer to join a global legal consulting platform affiliated with a major international law firm. The role offers consulting assignments across Australia, typically short- to medium-term placements (often part-time/four-day weeks) with both in-house and law firm teams.
Work will focus on technology contracts and procurement (SaaS, cloud, software development, AI and data licensing), data protection and cybersecurity, technology-related M&A and IP matters. The role suits a self-directed lawyer who wants varied, high-quality advisory and project work while remaining connected to firm resources and training.
This consulting role provides ongoing support from a dedicated consultant management team, access to firm knowledge resources and training, and opportunities to work on secondments or ad-hoc engagements with internal practice teams or external clients.
- Qualified to practice in Australia with unrestricted practising rights; right to work and reside in Australia
- Minimum ~4 years post-qualification experience, ideally with top-tier law firm and/or leading financial institution or corporate secondee experience
- Strong technical experience in commercial technology agreements, IT procurement/outsourcing and data protection/privacy law
- Experience with cybersecurity law, tech-related M&A, fintech/e-commerce and related IP issues is highly desirable
- Self-starter comfortable working as a consultant (casual or via an independent legal practice), with excellent communication, client-service focus and commercial acumen
