Join a large Manchester litigation team as a Costs Draftsperson / Costs Lawyer working across a broad, high-volume caseload. The role covers assessing and negotiating party costs, preparing and responding to costs budgets, and pursuing recoveries including bill drafting.

The bulk of work arises from personal injury defence instructions for insurers and policyholders, with additional costs matters from commercial, property, marine, aviation and professional indemnity litigation. There is scope to handle a variety of matters and to focus on particular lines of work according to experience.

The team offers structured learning and development and supports progression within a collaborative environment. This is a hands-on role for candidates comfortable working to deadlines and managing their own files.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a costs environment (suitable for Solicitors, Costs Lawyers or experienced Costs Draftspersons).
  • Proven experience running own costs cases on behalf of the paying party and preparing costs budgets.
  • Familiarity with pursuing costs recoveries and bill drafting (desirable).
  • Some advocacy experience welcomed but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organisation and time-management skills; able to prioritise to tight deadlines.
  • Confident, professional approach with opponents and colleagues; good IT skills and willingness to be flexible with workload.
