Counsel, Labor & Employment — Los Angeles

Seeking a Counsel to join a busy Labor & Employment team in the Los Angeles office. The role is litigation-focused and involves defending employers in individual and representative employment matters at both the trial and appellate levels.

Typical matters include single-plaintiff litigation (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour, accommodation), PAGA matters and class actions. The position requires independent case management from pleadings through dispositive motion, discovery and trial preparation, and active involvement in workplace counseling on federal and state employment laws.

• Juris Doctor and active admission to the California bar.
• 9–12 years of employment/labor litigation experience defending employers, including wage-and-hour and class/PAGA matters.
• Experience drafting and opposing pleadings, discovery and both dispositive and discovery motions; courtroom and deposition experience.
• Strong research and writing skills; ability to manage matters independently and provide employment counseling on federal and state law.
• Smaller portable book would be a plus but is not required.
