Apply in confidence →Seeking a 2–5 year associate to join a national Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation (EBEC) team, based in Chicago with flexibility to support work across other regional offices. The role involves counseling on benefits and executive compensation matters, regulatory compliance, and transactional support for retirement, health and welfare, and nonqualified plans.
Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting and applying ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and agency guidance; advising on plan design, administration, and ongoing compliance; and drafting and negotiating plan documents and related agreements. The position offers meaningful responsibility, close partner interaction, and collaborative teamwork across a diverse client base.
- 2–5 years of relevant employee benefits & executive compensation experience.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related regulatory guidance.
- Experience advising on qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, plan design, and administration.
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple matters in a team environment.
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing; timely admission to the hiring-office state required.
- Ability to provide a resume and law school transcript; current judicial clerks should apply directly.
