Apply in confidence →Seeking an experienced environmental attorney to join a nationally recognized environmental practice as a non-partnership track Senior Attorney based in Richmond, VA or Washington, D.C. The role involves substantial client contact, mentoring and training responsibilities, and work on long‑term, precedent‑setting regulatory matters.
Typical matters include compliance counseling, enforcement defense, permitting and other regulatory authorizations, agency rulemaking, and related litigation. The team emphasizes collaboration, diverse perspectives and a team-based approach.
Candidates should be prepared for a firm billable expectation of approximately 1,600 hours and will be eligible for benefits. District of Columbia bar membership is preferred and must be obtained within one year of joining if not already held.
- Approximately 6 years of post‑qualification experience in environmental law (private practice, government, or trade association experience welcomed)
- Demonstrated experience in compliance counseling, enforcement defense, permitting, regulatory authoring or related litigation
- Strong written and oral communication skills, good judgment, responsiveness and intellectual curiosity
- Team-oriented with mentoring and client-facing experience; ability to meet a ~1,600 hour billable expectation
- District of Columbia bar membership preferred — required within one year if not already admitted
