Top-tier law firm is seeking an Executive Compensation & Benefits associate to join its Tax practice in the Washington, DC office. The role focuses on advising corporate clients on executive compensation, deferred compensation, qualified and nonqualified plans, and related tax issues.

Successful candidates will work on a mix of transactional and advisory matters, drafting client memoranda and plan documents, supporting M&A and compensation-related restructurings, and collaborating with tax, employee benefits and broader transactional teams.

The hiring team values technical tax expertise, strong drafting and client counseling skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collegiate environment with experienced practitioners across offices.

  • 3–6 years post-JD experience (PQE) with substantial executive compensation / employee benefits tax experience
  • Solid understanding of qualified retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation (Section 409A), ERISA basics, and related federal tax issues
  • Strong drafting, research and client-facing skills; ability to work collaboratively on transactional and advisory matters
  • Active bar admission in the U.S. (or plan to obtain) and excellent academic credentials
