Leading Tokyo-based law firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its finance team on cross-border and domestic transactions. The role involves drafting and negotiating English-language loan, asset & project finance and securitisation documentation, working closely with senior finance lawyers.

The position offers significant exposure to Japanese lending and capital markets and opportunities to support high-value cross-border matters. Secondment candidates from reputable finance practices will be considered, and the firm can provide support with registration as a foreign lawyer in Japan subject to regulatory requirements.

2–4 years post-qualification experience in a reputable finance practice
Qualified in Australia, New Zealand or England
Proven frontline drafting and negotiation experience on finance documentation
Native-level English; Japanese language skills not required
Willingness to commit to working in Japan for at least two years
