Apply in confidence →Mid-level associate opening for an international trade lawyer to join a national firm’s Government & Public practice in Southern California. The role can be based in the firm’s Southern California offices (San Diego, Los Angeles or Orange County) with a preference for candidates local to or willing to relocate to the Los Angeles/Orange County area.
The team handles a full-scope international trade practice including export controls (EAR/ITAR), economic sanctions, customs, antidumping/AD-CVD, foreign investment reviews (CFIUS), and related compliance and enforcement work. The associate will support investigations, advisory matters, regulatory filings, and litigation before agencies and tribunals that oversee trade, sanctions, and customs.
Applicants should be comfortable working on multi-jurisdictional matters, drafting regulatory submissions, and counseling clients on compliance and transactional risk. Resume, cover letter and law school transcript are requested; candidates must be admitted to and in good standing with the California bar.
- 5–7 years post-qualification experience in international trade law (law firm or relevant government experience preferred)
- Experience in three or more of: export controls (EAR/ITAR), CFIUS/foreign investment reviews, economic sanctions, customs law, international trade agreements, AD/CVD
- Strong research, writing and verbal communication skills
- Good academic record; California bar admission and good standing
- Ability to manage client work across regulatory, enforcement and transactional matters
