IP Associate — Patent Prosecution, Newark

Seek an associate with 2–5 years' focused patent prosecution experience to join a busy New Jersey IP team. The role emphasizes drafting and prosecuting chemical- and mechanical-related patent applications and supports strategic development and counseling of patent portfolios.

Work will be client-facing and connected to a national and global platform, providing exposure to a variety of industries and opportunities to manage international patent portfolios and prepare opinions where needed. Competitive compensation and a standard benefits package are offered.

• 2–5 years' experience in patent prosecution, with drafting and prosecution of chemical- and/or mechanical-related applications
• Registered to practice before the USPTO; in good standing with the New Jersey Bar or able to obtain admission promptly
• Degree or advanced degree in chemical engineering preferred; candidates with degrees/experience in chemistry, materials science, or comparable technical backgrounds will be considered
• Strong writing, analytical skills, and comfort working directly with clients; experience managing global patent portfolios and preparing freedom-to-operate opinions preferred
