Short-term (3 month) full-time, hybrid legal consultant role based in Melbourne supporting a large financial services organisation. The engagement focuses on payroll remediation and industrial relations work within a commercial in-house environment.

The role will involve reviewing and drafting business requirements for a new payroll platform, identifying gaps in existing system builds, and supporting end-to-end remediation to ensure compliance with wage payment laws and relevant enterprise agreements. You'll work closely with internal IR teams and stakeholders to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical solutions.

This is a hands-on position for an experienced employment/IR lawyer comfortable operating in a large organisation and delivering pragmatic, stakeholder-focused advice.

  • Minimum ~5 years' post-qualification employment/industrial relations experience
  • Proven experience with payroll remediation, wage & hour compliance and interpreting enterprise agreements
  • Experience drafting business requirements and supporting implementation of payroll systems
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly
  • Current practising certificate and right to work in Australia
