Short-term (3–6 month) full-time contract, hybrid in Melbourne, supporting a large financial‑services legal/compliance function. The role focuses on regulatory incident assessment, breach reporting and regulator‑facing correspondence during a period of increased reporting or system transition.

You'll work closely with in‑house legal, compliance and risk teams to triage incidents, prepare breach/incident reports and regulatory notifications, and help manage overflow workstreams. This is a hands‑on role for an experienced financial‑services regulatory lawyer who can operate independently and produce clear, regulator‑ready documents.

  • Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in financial services regulatory law (private practice or in‑house)
  • Experience in an in‑house legal, compliance, risk or regulatory function; familiarity with breach reporting and incident assessment
  • Proven ability drafting breach reports, compliance notices and regulator‑facing correspondence
  • Sound regulatory judgment and knowledge of financial services compliance frameworks (ASIC/APRA environments)
  • Comfortable managing high volumes of incident assessments and liaising with internal stakeholders
  • Current Australian practising certificate and right to live and work in Australia
