The role focuses on mid-level patent prosecution and technical analysis across computer hardware and software, telecommunications, electrical, electromechanical, and automotive technologies.
Typical responsibilities include drafting, filing, and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, coordinating international filing strategies, and preparing patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions. The team provides broad IP counseling to clients on complex technical matters.
- 2–4 years' patent prosecution experience (or equivalent experience as a Patent Agent)
- J.D. and admission to the District of Columbia Bar expected if not already admitted
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar technical field
- Proven drafting and prosecution experience; strong legal writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex matters; strong analytical judgment
- USPTO examiner, industry, or clerkship experience desirable
