Patent Litigation Associate — Intellectual Property, Toronto

Top-tier intellectual property team seeks a patent litigation associate to join its Toronto office. The role focuses on all phases of contentious patent work — from early case assessment through Markman hearings, discovery and trial — and requires close collaboration with technical experts and cross‑disciplinary legal teams.

Ideal candidates will have a technology or life‑sciences background and experience handling patent matters in U.S. district courts and/or before the ITC. The team operates on a hybrid schedule, with an expectation of approximately 60% in‑office attendance.

• J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA‑accredited law school
• 2+ years of patent litigation experience (district court and/or ITC experience preferred)
• Technical background in electrical engineering, computer science or related field, or life‑sciences background (biology, immunology, biochemistry)
• Admission to practice in California, Massachusetts, New York or Washington, D.C.
• Proven ability to prepare pleadings, manage discovery, work with experts, and handle depositions
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and teamwork skills
