Top-tier office seeks an IP patent prosecution associate with technical expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology and related AI-enabled life‑sciences technologies. The role focuses on drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications and providing strategic portfolio counseling for clients across startups to large technology and biopharma companies.

Day-to-day work includes patent drafting and prosecution, freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses, IP due diligence and collaboration with litigation and licensing teams. This is an on-site role based in the firm’s Pittsburgh office (San Diego candidates may be considered where indicated).

  • Degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, biomedical engineering, structural biology, biophysics or a closely related discipline (advanced degree preferred)
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO and admitted to a U.S. state bar, both in good standing
  • Approximately 1 year of prior patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in‑house (experience in life sciences/tech preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of: AI/ML for drug discovery, digital therapeutics/software in medical devices, computational pathology/image analysis, genomics/sequence analysis, or related computational biology areas
  • Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills; team‑oriented and client‑focused
