A leading organisation seeks an experienced privacy lawyer for a consultancy role. You will join a flexible legal resourcing platform, supporting clients with regulatory compliance and privacy matters.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Sydney, with an initial duration of 3 to 12 months. You will act as a subject matter expert on privacy law, advising on regulatory obligations, risk management, and compliance uplift programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on the Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles, and emerging privacy regulatory developments.
  • Providing guidance on telecommunications-specific privacy obligations, including Part 13 of the Telecommunications Act and the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance and reform initiatives, including implementation of new legislative requirements.
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing legal, regulatory, and reputational risks.
  • Engaging with legal, risk, privacy, compliance, regulatory, and operational teams as a trusted advisor.

About you:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience as a privacy lawyer, from private practice or in-house roles within large organisations.
  • Experience in telecommunications or other highly regulated sectors is highly regarded.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy law, regulatory frameworks, and compliance practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Current Australian practising certificate and right to work in Australia.
  • Security clearance or willingness to obtain one.

  • Minimum 8 years' post-qualification experience as a privacy lawyer.
  • Demonstrated expertise in privacy law and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of the Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles, and emerging privacy regulations.
  • Experience with telecommunications-specific privacy obligations is highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to support compliance uplift and regulatory reform programs.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Current Australian practising certificate.
  • Right to live and work in Australia.
  • Security clearance or willingness to obtain one.
