Apply in confidence →One-year contract for a Research Lawyer / Library Services Lead to join a busy Montréal legal team. Reporting to the senior director of innovation and knowledge management, the role combines advanced legal and regulatory research with day-to-day library and collection management.
The successful candidate will provide complex legal, legislative, regulatory and business research, produce tailored news/regulatory updates, and advise lawyers and business professionals on responsible use of generative AI research tools. The role also includes supervising library staff, managing subscriptions and budgets, and contributing to strategic knowledge-management initiatives.
This position requires regular bilingual (English/French) work and close collaboration with lawyers, paralegals and business teams across the office.
- Minimum three years' experience in legal research or a related role
- Bar membership in Québec or a graduate degree in librarianship preferred (extensive relevant experience may substitute)
- Demonstrated experience with legal research databases and law library/collection management
- Experience supervising staff and managing library operations, budgets and vendor contracts
- Familiarity with AI-enabled research tools and ability to evaluate and advise on their use
- Excellent written and spoken English and French
- Strong service orientation, attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
