The role focuses on advising corporate clients and supporting regulatory matters across customs, trade remedies, and related national-security regimes.
Core responsibilities include counseling on customs matters (tariff classification, valuation, free trade agreements), preparing and defending ruling requests, prior disclosures, protests and petitions, and representing clients in audit-defense matters. Experience advising on tariffs imposed under IEEPA, Section 232 and Section 301 is expected.
The group also handles export controls and sanctions (EAR, ITAR, OFAC), licensing and voluntary disclosures, enforcement defense, and CFIUS-related national security work. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work on integrated, cross-disciplinary matters.
- J.D. and active bar admission (or eligibility) required.
- Substantial experience in customs law (classification, valuation, ruling requests, protests, prior disclosures, audit defense).
- Demonstrated knowledge of tariffs under IEEPA, Section 232 and Section 301.
- Experience with export controls (EAR/ITAR) and sanctions (OFAC) and/or CFIUS matters is highly valued.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and client-facing skills; able to work in a team on complex regulatory matters.
