Senior Associate — General Counsel & Risk (Sydney)

An opportunity for a Senior Associate or Counsel to join a global law firm's General Counsel & Risk team based in Australia. The role focuses on managing professional liability matters, insurer relationships and the firm's insurance portfolio while supporting risk management and claims strategy across the region.

Key duties include running the defence of professional liability claims, managing policy renewals and other insurance matters, instructing external counsel in Australia, handling investigations and regulatory issues, and presenting risk and liability briefings to senior management. The role will work closely with the global and regional general counsel functions and contributes to proactive risk mitigation initiatives.

• Qualified lawyer with experience at senior associate or counsel level, preferably from an insurance or litigation background
• Proven experience managing professional liability claims, mediations and settlement negotiations
• Strong analytical, drafting and oral communication skills; able to explain complex commercial and liability issues to non-lawyers
• Excellent organisational and time-management ability with experience handling multiple matters and competing priorities
