Senior Associate, Planning — Real Estate (Glasgow)

Join a leading planning and public law practice advising on major development, regeneration, infrastructure and energy projects. The team handles a mix of contentious and non‑contentious planning work including large-scale applications, environmental assessment, public inquiries, compulsory purchase and planning litigation.

We are seeking a Senior Associate able to take significant responsibility for client work, mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development. Candidates who are dual‑qualified are preferred; strong Scottish‑qualified candidates who are willing to pursue dual qualification will also be considered.

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in planning law.
• Experience advising on complex planning applications, environmental assessment and development consents.
• Practical skills in drafting and negotiating planning agreements (including S106/undertakings), highways and infrastructure agreements, and CIL matters.
• Experience of planning litigation, public inquiries and judicial review, including instructing counsel and team coordination.
• Experience of compulsory purchase and planning due diligence on commercial/corporate transactions; energy sector experience (solar, BESS, wind) desirable.
• Strong drafting and commercial judgement, excellent client communication skills and a track record of collaborating and mentoring within a team.
• Demonstrable business development ability — networking, market profile or thought leadership.
• Dual qualification preferred; Scottish-qualified candidates willing to dual qualify will be considered.
