Apply in confidence →Seeking a senior counsel to join a national practice group focused on higher education regulatory, accreditation, and institutional structural matters. The role advises colleges, universities, and education providers on Title IV and financial aid issues, accreditation and accreditor recognition, changes in ownership/structural transactions, and broader compliance topics affecting the sector.
This is a multi-office / remote-eligible position with a flexible schedule option and potential for a reduced billable-hour requirement. The role includes client counseling, drafting and managing regulatory submissions, coordinating with accrediting bodies, and collaborating with transactional and compliance teams on institutional mergers and ownership changes.
The ideal candidate will help develop firm knowledge resources, supervise junior attorneys and paralegals, and occasionally travel to client meetings and conferences.
- Approximately 8+ years of legal experience, with at least ~3 years focused on higher education regulatory matters preferred.
- Substantive experience with Title IV/financial aid, accreditation processes, and institutional structural changes or changes in ownership.
- Experience interacting with higher education regulators, accrediting agencies, or in-house education counsel preferred; familiarity with related areas (privacy, research/healthcare, student funding mechanisms, international operations) valued.
- Active bar admission in the relevant state or willingness to obtain admission promptly.
- Strong writing, communication, project management, and supervisory skills; ability to manage multiple matters and exercise sound judgment.
