Senior in-house legal role within the Office of General Counsel for a top-tier Australian law firm, based in Sydney. You will provide commercial and regulatory legal advice to senior leaders across the firm, with a strong focus on contracting, client engagement terms and legal profession compliance.

Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements; managing conflicts of interest processes (including use of Intapp or equivalent); and advising on regulatory and corporate governance matters. The role requires autonomy, sound judgment and the ability to provide clear, pragmatic risk-mitigation advice to stakeholders at all levels.

The team places emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality and practical commercial solutions. This is a substantive advisory role supporting implementation of compliance frameworks and policy across the organisation.

  • Minimum 8 years post-qualification legal experience, with experience in a law-firm in-house or general counsel function preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Australian contract and corporate law, and legal profession regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial contracts (client engagement, supplier agreements, confidentiality/escrow/reliance letters)
  • Familiarity with conflicts management processes and systems (e.g. Intapp) and demonstrable ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion
  • Commercially focused, pragmatic problem-solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills
