Apply in confidence →Join a national Emergency Services team acting exclusively for police forces across England and Wales. The team handles a full range of civil actions against the police, data‑protection and operational advice matters, including sensitive and high‑profile claims.
This role is for a solicitor (NQ–3 PQE) to be based in Leeds (role can also be located in Liverpool, Manchester or Leicester). You will manage a mixed caseload of pre‑litigated and litigated police claims, handle data‑protection and employer’s liability matters, conduct hearings and advocacy where appropriate, and liaise with insurers, counsel and experts.
The successful candidate will receive training and support to develop across police claims, operational advice and information‑law work.
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), NQ to 3 years' PQE.
- Experience in police claims litigation, police operational advice, or data‑protection/information law (e.g. DPA 2018/UK GDPR/FOIA) — candidates with strength in one area will be supported to cross‑train.
- Solid litigation skills across pre‑litigation and litigation, comfortable with procedural rules, evidence and advocacy.
- Strong client‑facing and stakeholder management skills, high professional judgement, discretion and resilience handling sensitive matters.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines, maintain accurate management information and meet chargeable hours/financial targets.
