Associate — Health Advisory & Inquest

An established health-focused team is hiring an Associate to handle inquest and Court of Protection work across the firm's regional UK offices. The role involves managing a caseload (including some advocacy) for NHS and independent sector health and social care clients, and supporting local authority matters as required.

The practice covers matters nationally and advises on a wide range of health and social care issues, including serious medical treatment/high court applications, mental health and capacity matters, safeguarding, continuing healthcare/funding disputes, information governance and related litigation. There are clear opportunities to develop additional advisory and contested work within the team.

• Experience of Court of Protection work (health and welfare applications, s21A MCA challenges) and/or inquests; advocacy and case-management experience desirable
• Familiarity with health and social care advisory issues (mental health, safeguarding, continuing healthcare, access and funding disputes) an advantage
• Strong drafting and presentation skills; able to prepare complex written advice and deliver training
• Organised, client-focused, able to manage a caseload and meet financial/time-recording requirements
• Comfortable with standard office IT and case-management systems; good understanding of the NHS
