Apply in confidence →A national law firm is hiring a commercial costs lawyer to join its Commercial Litigation costs team in London. The role involves preparing Bills of Costs for detailed assessment and inter partes bills, leading costs negotiations and litigation, and providing strategic costs advice across complex, high‑value commercial matters.
You will have regular client contact, support case handlers through the lifecycle of disputes, and may assist with training and development of more junior colleagues. The team operates in a collaborative, supportive environment with hybrid working flexibility subject to role and client needs.
- At least 2 years' experience drafting costs, ideally in commercial litigation, business disputes or insurance contexts (in‑house or external supplier)
- Strong knowledge of commercial litigation procedures and costs practice
- Proven use of legal IT systems and time‑recording procedures
- Ability to manage a busy caseload, meet competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and professional client manner; able to work independently and in a team
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet client and business needs
- Desirable: ACL qualification or other relevant legal/financial qualification; experience with commercial legal departments or business/insurance clients
