Top-tier global law firm seeks an associate to join its Insurance Regulatory & Compliance team in the Palo Alto office. The role focuses on counseling insurers, private equity sponsors and other insurance-related businesses on regulatory, compliance and transactional matters across U.S. jurisdictions.

Day-to-day work includes preparing regulatory filings, advising on insurer formation and licensure, supporting insurance holding company compliance, and assisting with M&A, joint ventures and other strategic transactions. The role also involves responding to insurance department inquiries, supporting examinations and administrative proceedings, and helping develop client compliance programs and internal controls.

This position offers significant exposure to state insurance regulators and opportunities to build deep regulatory expertise while working on complex commercial and corporate matters for sophisticated clients in the insurance sector.

JD from an accredited law school and strong academic record
Admission to the California bar (or admission to practice in the associate's primary office)
3–5 years' relevant insurance regulatory, compliance or transactional experience
Experience with regulatory filings, opinions, policies & procedures, and drafting commercial transaction documents (M&A, JVs)
Strong legal writing, oral communication, judgment, and client relationship skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and handle regulatory interactions
