Global Data Privacy Counsel — Privacy & Data Protection

Senior in-house counsel role leading the global data privacy and protection programme for a major international law firm. You will be a core member of the Office of General Counsel, driving global privacy strategy, advising on cross-border compliance, and partnering with local offices to implement consistent controls and processes.

Key responsibilities include managing a small team, conducting DPIAs, drafting and negotiating privacy and AI-related contractual terms (including international transfer mechanisms and supplier agreements), responding to data subject requests and incident/legal breach matters, and maintaining global privacy policies, notices and training.

• Qualified lawyer with excellent academic credentials and a minimum of 10+ years PQE.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR and strong experience with other global data protection laws (e.g. CCPA) and cross‑border transfer mechanisms.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating data processing/supplier contracts, SCCs and AI-related clauses; ability to perform DPIAs and advise on privacy by design.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior lawyers and working with multi‑disciplinary security and business teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical matters to varied audiences and work across jurisdictions and cultures.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines; competent with MS Office and online research tools.
