Apply in confidence →Growing international trade team in a national full-service firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Governmental / Compliance practice. The role supports a broad trade portfolio including export controls, sanctions, customs, CFIUS and AD/CVD matters, and will work with a cross-office team on regulatory and government-facing matters.
This position is open to candidates based in Southern California and can be staffed from multiple regional offices; preference will be given to candidates in or willing to relocate to the Los Angeles / Orange County area. The role offers substantial client-facing and regulatory advocacy work before federal agencies and trade tribunals.
Work will include counseling on export controls (EAR/ITAR), sanctions, foreign investment reviews, customs, and anti-dumping/countervailing duty matters, along with research, brief-writing and regulatory compliance counseling.
- 5–7 years post-qualified experience in international trade law, ideally at a large law firm or relevant government agency
- Experience in at least three of the following: export controls (EAR/ITAR), CFIUS/foreign investment reviews, economic sanctions, customs law, international trade agreements, AD/CVD
- Admitted to and in good standing with the California bar
- Excellent written and verbal communication, research and analytical skills
