Well-established intellectual property practice seeks a lateral partner-level patent lawyer to lead US-focused software and AI patent work. The role is offered on a consultant/service-agreement basis initially, with full partnership discussions possible over time.

This is a remote-first opportunity (Canada/US candidates considered) with occasional travel to the Montreal/Quebec City area for team meetings. The team is small, collaborative and entrepreneurial, with immediate mandates in hand—this hire will expand existing software/AI patent capability.

US-qualified lawyer with prior substantive US patent experience (software/AI focus)
Minimum ~5 years’ relevant experience; senior-level candidates encouraged
Proven background in US patent prosecution and strategy for software and AI technologies
Comfortable working remotely and travelling to Montreal/Quebec City ~1–2× per year
Entrepreneurial, collaborative team player; experience working on client-billed consultant arrangements or flexible fee models
