Lawyer, General Insurance (Construction)

Join one of Australia's leading insurance law and litigation practices, working on complex construction and engineering disputes arising from major projects across the country.

In this role, you will join a high-performing General Insurance team, advising insurers and insured clients on a broad range of construction and engineering matters, including defect, indemnity, and liability disputes, as well as large-scale litigated claims from construction and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day conduct of commercial litigation matters with appropriate supervision and support
• Drafting correspondence, pleadings, submissions, affidavits, and other court and tribunal documents
• Appearing at mediations, settlement conferences, tribunals, and court hearings
• Preparing clear, practical, and commercially focused advice for clients
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives
• Managing client reporting requirements and client portal obligations
• Working closely with colleagues across the team on complex and interesting matters
• Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers, graduates, and seasonal clerks

About You

• Hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practising certificate
• Have 3+ years' PAE, with experience in construction, engineering, and/or property insurance matters
• Experience acting in subrogated recovery matters is advantageous but not essential
• Enjoy working directly with clients and building trusted professional relationships
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive and collaborative approach to work
