Apply in confidence →Leading national law firm seeks an oil and gas associate to join its Washington, D.C. energy team. The role focuses on regulatory matters for large integrated oil, gas and energy clients, including administrative proceedings and federal energy policy work.
Work will involve advising on federal statutes and regulatory programs that affect the oil and gas sector (for example NEPA, OCSLA, the Mineral Leasing Act, ESA and CWA), defending and challenging federal agency actions, and supporting civil enforcement defense and related litigation.
The team offers a collegial platform with clear professional development opportunities. The position is based in Washington, D.C. and requires regular in-office presence; pay range for this location is listed at $225,000–260,000/yr (actual compensation will depend on experience and qualifications).
- 1–3 years' post-qualification experience in oil & gas or energy regulatory work
- Demonstrated interest or experience with federal energy policy, administrative law, and agency litigation/appeals
- Background or coursework with federal environmental and resource statutes (NEPA, OCSLA, Mineral Leasing Act, ESA, CWA) strongly preferred
- Admission to the D.C. Bar or eligibility for bar admission waiver
- Strong academic record and excellent written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to work in-office at least three business days per week
