Partner — Tax (Toronto)

Leading, global law firm is expanding its Canada Tax group and is seeking a Toronto-based Tax partner to join and help grow the practice. The role combines client-facing tax advisory with business development and team leadership.

Priority areas are high-net-worth/private client tax planning, tax controversy and dispute resolution, and transactional tax support for M&A and financings. The team will provide resources to support a partner taking on an active role in client work and practice growth.

A portable practice is required; the firm will, however, consider candidates with smaller or developing books who demonstrate strong client generation potential and a clear growth plan.

• Established tax partner level experience with a strong track record advising on one or more of: private client/high-net-worth planning, tax controversy, and transactional tax.
• Proven client development and relationship-management skills; ability to originate and grow fee income.
• Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax law and experience dealing with tax authorities and negotiations where relevant.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability to help build the local tax team.
