Apply in confidence →An opportunity has arisen for an experienced commercial lawyer to join a leading energy infrastructure organisation in Brisbane on a 6-12 month full-time hybrid arrangement. The role focuses on land access, approvals, and project development for major energy and infrastructure projects, including pipelines, transmission lines, and renewable energy. You will work closely with project teams, advise on land tenure, native title, cultural heritage, and environmental approvals, and support the drafting and negotiation of agreements. This position offers the flexibility of a premier legal resourcing platform and the backing of a global firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on land access, tenure, easements, and licences for major projects.
- Support native title and cultural heritage compliance, including Indigenous Land Use Agreements and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with environmental and regulatory approvals frameworks.
- Draft, review, and negotiate land access, tenure, heritage, and project agreements.
- Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to support project delivery and operational objectives.
- Identify and manage legal, regulatory, environmental, and stakeholder risks.
About You:
- Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience as a commercial lawyer, ideally with exposure to energy, infrastructure, or resources projects.
- Strong experience in land access, tenure, native title, and cultural heritage matters.
- Experience with environmental approvals and regulatory frameworks for major projects.
- Ability to draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including with landholders, Traditional Owners, regulators, and project teams.
- Strong commercial judgment, communication skills, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Requirements:
- Current Australian practising certificate.
- Right to live and work in Australia.
