Senior/Managing Associate – Corporate – Future Energy

Our firm is seeking an experienced Senior or Managing Associate to join our renowned Corporate Future Energy team. This is a national role based across our offices in Bristol, Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, and London, covering the full UK jurisdiction.

The Role

You will play a lead role on transactions, providing strategic advice, leading negotiations of key documents, and managing projects. You will work with a wide range of renewable energy clients and gain exposure to technologies including wind, solar, battery storage, anaerobic digestion, hydro, waste-to-energy, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will manage a broad spectrum of transactions, advising on acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, and profit share agreements, including complex and novel arrangements.

You will work as part of a close-knit, highly flexible team with no rigid sub-teams, collaborating across the wider Future Energy practice. You will contribute to business development strategy, participate in profile-raising events, and support the supervision and development of paralegals, trainees, and associates. You will report to the Head of the Corporate Future Energy team, who leads the wider Future Energy group.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society registered) with circa 6+ years’ PQE
  • Experience in handling clean energy M&A deals
  • Experience working on complex national and international mid-market M&A, venture capital, and private equity transactions
  • First-class communication skills with confidence engaging clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Proven track record in business development and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of client business needs and act in their best interests
  • Collaborative mindset with ambition to support junior team members’ development

Our Future Energy team combines over 28 years’ sector experience, deep market knowledge, and commercial insight to guide clients through the complexities of renewable generation and green infrastructure projects. With more than 180 dedicated lawyers across the UK and Ireland, we provide a full-service offering spanning corporate, real estate, planning, finance, energy regulation, grid, construction, and specialist areas including tax, employment, immigration, technology, data, and IP. Together, we deliver seamless, end-to-end advice throughout the project lifecycle.
