Apply in confidence →Experienced public procurement lawyer sought to join a national public sector contracts and procurement team. This permanent, full‑time role is available in Manchester or Birmingham with hybrid working and involvement across multiple UK offices.
The role involves advising central and local government clients and other public bodies on procurement strategy, tendering and contract lifecycle matters, supporting procurement litigation, and contributing to business development and client training. You will work on a varied caseload and support junior fee-earners while collaborating with senior colleagues on team development.
- Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society registered) with 6+ years PQE
- Proven experience advising on UK public procurement law (including Procurement Act 2023 and Public Contracts Regulations 2015) and handling procurement processes end-to-end
- Experience drafting and reviewing procurement documentation (ITTs, specifications, notices), contracts, framework agreements and call-offs; familiarity with procurement portals such as Jaggaer or Proactis advantageous
- Knowledge of FOI, anti-bribery, value-for-money principles, Cabinet Office/Government Commercial standards and social value requirements
- Strong drafting, negotiation and project management skills; ability to manage competing priorities and to coach junior team members
- Commercial mindset with enthusiasm for business development and keeping up to date with procurement developments
