We are recruiting a Solicitor to join a Specialist Liability team handling civil claims against the police and other public bodies across England & Wales. The team handles complex matters including false imprisonment, assault, misconduct, human rights breaches and related public-law liability work, with opportunities to develop experience in abuse, discrimination, deprivations of liberty, misfeasance and inquests.

The role is open to candidates based anywhere in England & Wales and the team operates on a hybrid basis from multiple UK locations. You will be given responsibility for a mixed caseload, opportunities to attend conferences and trials, and support for professional development.

1–8 years’ PQE in civil litigation, with experience of police/public-body claims
Solid litigation experience including running fast-paced police-related claims and preparing defences through to trial
Working knowledge of common law false imprisonment, Human Rights Act and PACE
Ability to manage sensitive disclosure, proof witnesses and draft court documents to a high standard
Comfortable working hybrid/remotely and collaboratively; able to meet a budgeted target of approximately 1,440 chargeable hours per year
