Apply in confidence →Join a growing Specialist Liability team handling complex civil claims against public bodies, including police-related matters. The role covers false imprisonment, assault, misconduct, Human Rights Act claims and related public‑law litigation, with scope to develop into abuse, discrimination, deprivations of liberty, misfeasance and inquests work.
The team operates on a hybrid basis across multiple UK locations and welcomes applicants based anywhere in England & Wales. You will manage a mixed caseload of pre‑litigated and litigated claims, attend conferences and trials with counsel, and take responsibility for drafting, disclosure supervision and witness preparation.
Induction and ongoing support are provided. The role offers substantive responsibility early on, varied and interesting matters, and opportunities to assist with business development and to broaden your practice within the team.
- 1–8 years PQE in civil litigation
- Proven experience handling police and other public‑body claims
- Good working knowledge of common law false imprisonment, Human Rights Act and PACE
- Solid litigation experience including preparing court documents and trial support
- Ability to manage factually and legally complex caseloads and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality written work for knowledgeable clients
- Comfortable working collaboratively and independently; hybrid working acceptable
