Apply in confidence →Senior patent-prosecution role on an alternative track within a national technology-focused IP team. The position involves drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications across electrical, mechanical and software domains, with a strong emphasis on software-implemented inventions and computer-related technologies.
You'll work directly with engineers, scientists and in-house counsel for a mix of large corporate and emerging-growth clients, participate in invention-harvesting and portfolio reviews, and contribute to strategy discussions that impact product roadmaps. There is also potential exposure to PTAB and ex parte reexamination matters and opportunities to supervise junior team members.
USPTO registration is preferred; candidates without registration must be prepared to sit for and pass the patent bar within the firm’s required timeframe.
- 3–4 years of patent-prosecution experience in a law firm environment.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with software-based technologies and drafting prosecution for computer-implemented inventions.
- USPTO registration preferred; willingness and ability to pass the patent bar within the required period if not already registered.
- Strong technical communication skills and experience collaborating directly with inventors and in-house teams; prior supervisory experience a plus.
