Associate – Competition

We are seeking an associate with three to five years' post-qualification experience in competition law, gained within an international law firm, a top-tier Paris firm, or a competition authority (such as the Autorité de la concurrence or the European Commission). The role offers the opportunity to join a leading competition practice and work on complex, high-profile, cross-border matters under the direct supervision of partners.

You will join a dynamic team that advises both private and public sector clients on all aspects of French and EU competition law, including merger control, cartels and agreements, abuse of dominance, State aid, competition litigation, and sector regulation. The department has particular strengths in regulated industries, including energy, transport, telecoms and media, manufacturing, financial services, and distribution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and filing merger control notifications before the French Competition Authority, the European Commission, and other authorities worldwide, with a focus on competitive assessment, drafting submissions, and assisting with remedies.
• Assisting clients in investigations and proceedings relating to anti-competitive practices, including leniency applications, settlement procedures, and contentious proceedings before relevant courts.
• Conducting competition compliance audits and supporting the design and implementation of compliance programmes.
• Drafting legal memoranda and opinions on a range of French and EU competition law issues, including distribution agreements, pricing practices, information exchanges, and vertical and horizontal restrictions.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master 2 (or equivalent) with a competition, EU business, or economic law specialisation, and ideally an LLM from a leading university. Strong analytical and drafting skills in both French and English, with fluency in legal English, are essential. You will be able to work autonomously while integrating seamlessly into a multidisciplinary, multicultural team, and will demonstrate intellectual rigour, strong organisation, and the ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines. • 3–5 years' post-qualification experience in competition law in an international or top-tier firm, or at a competition authority.
• Master 2 (or equivalent) in competition law, EU business law, or economic law; an LLM is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills in French and English; fluency in legal English essential.
• Strong organisational skills, autonomy, and ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines.
