An established insurance and disputes team is recruiting an Associate (1–3 PQE) to be based in Chelmsford on a hybrid basis. The role sits in the Property, Energy & Construction (PEC) practice and focuses on contentious construction, property damage, subrogation and insurance-related disputes.

You will support senior lawyers on complex, multi-party matters while managing your own caseload across litigation, adjudication, mediation and other dispute-resolution forums. Typical work includes advising insurer and commercial clients on liability, quantum and policy response; drafting statements of case, witness statements and settlement documentation; and instructing experts and counsel.

The team offers structured development, exposure to technical evidence and opportunities to work on high-value insurance and construction disputes, with involvement in business development and client-facing work as you progress.

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 1–3 years' PQE.
  • Experience in construction disputes, property damage, subrogated recovery or insurance/commercial litigation.
  • Strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills; commercial awareness and client-facing ability.
  • Familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules, dispute-resolution processes and working with expert technical evidence.
