Apply in confidence →Join a well-established UK construction practice as an Associate focusing primarily on non-contentious construction and engineering work, with scope to assist on disputes where required. The role is based across regional offices (Bristol, Exeter or Cheltenham) and will involve acting for public- and private-sector clients across the construction supply chain on regional and national projects.
Day-to-day work will include reviewing and advising on contract terms, drafting and negotiating appointments and ancillary documents, and liaising with clients and their advisers. You will work on high-value, often fast-paced matters across sectors including energy, infrastructure, health, education and commercial development.
The team operates an agile, flexible working approach and provides structured learning and development support to help progression and broaden technical and commercial skills.
- 3-5 years' post-qualified experience in construction and engineering practice.
- Strong non-contentious construction experience; willingness to handle contentious work (adjudication, TCC, arbitration) is advantageous.
- Extensive drafting and negotiating experience across contract families such as JCT, NEC, FIDIC, IChemE and energy contracts (EPCs, O&Ms), plus ancillary documents (collateral warranties, bonds, PCGs).
- Experience acting for a range of clients across multiple sectors and ability to run files alongside senior fee-earners.
- Commercial mindset, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and demonstrable interest in business development.
