Apply in confidence →An elite global law firm seeks a Conflicts Attorney to join its New York office, focusing on lateral recruitment and new business intake. Reporting to the Heads of Conflicts and partnering with the New Business Intake team, you will play a critical role in managing conflict checks, onboarding lateral partners and associates, and supporting the firm's strategic growth.
You will work closely with recruiting, business development, practice leadership, and administrative teams to ensure smooth intake and transition processes. Your responsibilities will include reviewing conflict submissions, identifying potential issues, and conducting external research. You will also provide guidance to analysts and fee earners on legal and ethical questions, review engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines, and draft conflict of interest waivers as needed.
This role supports the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures, monitors changes in the legal and regulatory landscape, and contributes to compliance audits and information barrier processes. - Admitted as an Attorney in New York or another US state (required).
- Prior experience in conflicts of interest, professional development, or human resources in a law firm context is preferred but not essential—full training will be provided on firm systems and policies.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and understanding of risk in a law firm environment.
- High degree of trustworthiness when handling confidential and sensitive material.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and face-to-face communication skills with a variety of staff, including senior partners and legal assistants.
- Strong research and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Intapp Open software is a plus.
